New young talent in Import and Export Operations!

The talented new people joining Sealogis Belgium put the spotlight on its freight forwarding ambitions for 2022. We are boosting the growth of our company with the new dynamism of Metehan Karakus (intern-student) in Import Operations and Sima Jamei in the Export Department.

Metehan Karakus: Import Operations

Metehan

Intern Metehan enjoys his commute every day from Deurne to the Sealogis office in the heart of Antwerp. The logistics and maritime world is exactly right for him, and he will soon complete his 'Transport and Logistics' course at the AP University of Applied Sciences. Ready to take on the world.

'I chose Sealogis Freight Forwarding Belgium because of its terrific reputation in the maritime world. And also because, as an intern, I'm given almost the same duties as other staff. So this feels like a real job, I add value to the Sealogis team, and it's a really great experience.'

A varied job

'My duties at Import Operations are quite varied… preparing files, loading orders, transport orders, stock management, and customs administration. I work completely in keeping with the One-stop-shop concept of Sealogis Belgium. And I can attend lots of in-house courses on forwarding and customs, which sharpens my knowledge.'

Under the spell of the Port of Antwerp

'The Port of Antwerp is really my thing. I watch the huge container ships with fascination. Which explains my massive interest in the international maritime world and transport in general. I’m a happy man!'

Sima Jamei: Export Operations

Sima

Sima Jamei brings more than just a touch of Iranian culture to Export Operations. She also learned the ropes of the international maritime discipline in her homeland. That was where she worked for several years in the customer service department of the CMA CGM Group.

Sima brought her master’s degree in Maritime Transport Management on-board Sealogis Freight Forwarding Belgium in October 2021.

'The Sealogis team welcomed me particularly warmly and my colleagues are really "responsive".  In the first weeks of training, the main focus was on the procedures to be followed.'

Export Operations is varied and exciting

Sima assists Sealogis customers with their sea freight. She finds everything quite interesting, such as booking transport orders, and contact with customers, shipping lines, and other freight forwarders.

'The destinations are really varied from the UAE and India to the USA and Australia. Of course, lots of shipping often passes through the Port of Antwerp.'

How do you like the job?

'It's quite varied, busy, and stressful, but I really like the dynamics of doing lots of different things at once. I really like the international character of this company, the training and, of course, my colleagues. I speak English and French and am certainly going to improve my Dutch! I’m learning every day!'
