25 years Sealogis Freight Forwarding Belgium in Antwerp
Sealogis Freight Forwarding Belgium in Antwerp exists for over a quarter of a century by now. Managing Director Edwig Laenen is proud and wants to applaud and thank his team.
Edwig Laenen: “What started out in 1995 as a low-profile and modest company with only a handful of employees has grown into a solid value in the world of expediting and logistics due to tireless efforts from the team itself, trial and error and the trust from our stakeholders.”
Taking the big leap
The year is 1995 when Edwig Laenen leaves the family business G. Laenen & Co. In consultation with Yannick Poncel from the Challenge International Group, Edwig takes hold of the Belgian branch at the Ernest Van Dijck Kaai in Antwerp at the age of 32.
“I am beyond proud to see that our company has emerged and evolved in such a powerful manner.”
“Throughout the years we achieved and established a decent and solid reputation with the expediting and shipping industry. In 2005, we moved from the Ernest Van Dijck Kaai to the Italiëlei. In the beginning of this year, 2020, our company’s name changed due to a merge within the Sealogis Group from Challenge International Belgium to Sealogis Freight Forwarding Belgium.”
Proud of the team
Edwig is extremely proud of his Antwerp team of 35 employees. “I am very appreciative of the fact that our company has evolved and grown in such a manner, even with the support of the parent company Sealogis Group. A quarter of a century is not only the tale of trial and error, but also mainly the tale of progress. In 2020, Sealogis achieves an annual revenue of 30 million euros. Our location in Antwerp within the Sealogis Group is one of the largest branches in terms of turnover and employees.”
Citizen of Antwerp in heart and soul
Sealogis Freight Forwarding Belgium’s offices are located at the heart of Antwerp and its harbor in the effervescent center on the Italiëlei. Edwig is a true citizen of Antwerp. “I simply adore this city and its harbor. I like to catch up on some reading on the history of this city by the Scheldt, which provides me with a lot of knowledge of Antwerp itself. A knowledge which I am most happy to share with friends and colleagues in order to familiarize them with this beautiful city. Our colleagues from France also love coming here!”
